About You & The Role:

 

Our team is rapidly expanding and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Generics and Special Effects Technician. The Purpose of the role is to promote Neg Earth Lights’ reputation as a trusted provider of excellent quality hire stock of Generics, Strobes and Smoke Machines.

Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge whilst adding to your own skill base?

 


 

You’ll play an essential part in your team and company success story by:

 

  • Demonstrating strong technical skills

 

Smokes

  • Preparing, cleaning and testing smoke machines and fans for hire. Our stock includes Cirro CS6, Look Solutions Unique Hazer, MDG The One, Jem AF-1.
  • Maintaining, fault finding and repairing smoke machines.
  • PAT testing smoke machines and fans and ensuring that all relevant certificates are provided.

 

Generics:

  • Preparing, cleaning and testing Generic fixtures for hire. Our stock includes Molefays, ETC Source 4s, Arri Fresnel’s, Patt 2013s, Svobodas, Parcans.
  • Maintaining, fault finding and repairing generic fixtures in accordance with company standards.
  • PAT testing generic fixtures and ensuring that all relevant certificates are provided.
  • Cutting gel and address relevant fixtures as part of the job prep.

 

Strobes:

  • Preparing, cleaning and testing test strobes for hire. Our stock includes Martin Atomic LED, GLP JDC1s and Solaris Flares.
  • Maintaining, fault finding and repairing strobes in accordance with company standards.
  • PAT testing strobes and ensuring that all relevant certificates are provided.

 

  • Communicating effectively
    • Complying with internal checking in procedures, as well as reporting missing and damaged units in.
    • Organising and planning work activities to ensure all tasks are completed effectively.
    • Maintaining great working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensuring systems and documentation are accurately maintained. Cross referencing plots and patches against prep sheets.
    • Maintaining stock levels through liaison with other internal departments
    • The ability to maintain records and to be able to spot trends in equipment failure.
    • Providing technical support to Neg Earth colleagues, freelance crew and production crew

 

Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience

 

We can’t live without your:

  • Great technical skills and enthusiasm for technology and entertainment / lighting industry.
  • Basic working knowledge of electricity and wiring.
  • Basic working knowledge of Molefay, Source Four Profiles, Pars, gels and their function.
  • Knowledge of Smoke Machines and Strobes.
  • Autonomy and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability.
  • Customer focused mentality and exemplary attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills, adaptability and flexibility.  
  • Great communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Your ability to plan ahead, organize and prioritise workload.
  • The show must go on so providing a 7 day operation/service is key. Therefore the ability to work paid overtime on occasions, including weekends is essential.

 

Nice to have, but we’ll be happy to offer additional training and support in:

  • Proven experience within a similar role or within the lighting / entertainment industry.
  • Basic fault finding capabilities.

  • Your education and training within Entertainment Lighting Industry.
