About You & The Role:

 

Our team is rapidly expanding and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior CAD Technician.

 

You play a vital role, both in promoting Neg Earth Lights as a professional, industry leading provider of tailored lighting solutions, as well as bringing the thoughts and needs of the Directors and Senior Managers to life. Producing clear and creative 2D and 3D CAD drawings in a timely manner as required by the company.

You’ll play an essential part in your team and company success story by:

  • Assisting the CAD Technician: working with Directors, Job Handlers, HOD’s and others to create Rigging Plots, Lighting Plots, Site Plans, Engineering Drawings, Schematics and other drawings as required.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the Directory of drawings and providing electronic and hard copies as required.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of drawing tools including block, calculation tools.
  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of updates for venue/site drawings for our regular venues/sites.
  • Maintenance of the Neg Earth Lights Site drawings, including updating as required.
  • Assisting with the calculation of Rigging Loads as required.
  • Assisting with liaison with external suppliers (software and materials) including the provision of Cutting files required for Laser and CNC where required.
  • Assisting with the creation of R&D concepts from both internal and external personnel for job specific specialist items. Working with clients and suppliers where required
  • Active involvement with all other media creation. Inc. photo editing, image creation, Visualizations, Printing.
  • Training and consulting on drawing packages when required for Personnel/company programs or tasks
  • Maintaining a good working routine to be able to return drawings quickly and accurately.
  • Assisting with the development of a Neg Earth Lights Drawing Standard.

 

 

Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience

 

We can’t live without your:

 

  • Proven experience from a similar industry based role.
  • 2D/3D CAD Draughting background.
  • CAD Training/Education: CND/BND/GNVQ Educated.
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Advanced MS Office applications skills – Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Basic Adobe Suite skills.
  • Eye for detail and innovative mind set.
  • High level of accuracy, with impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst being a real team player.
  • Willingness to take ownership and accountability and see things through to completion.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, demonstrating resilience, flexibility and ability to maintain positive relationships.
  • Ability to plan ahead, organise, prioritise, delegate and oversee workload.
  • The show must go on so providing a 7 day operation/service is key. Therefore the ability to work paid overtime on occasions, including weekends is essential.

 

Nice to have, but we’ll be happy to offer additional training and support in:

  • Knowledge of lighting and rigging equipment
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Previous experience in a lighting rental business.
  • Experience working with Vectorworks.
  • Experience using WYSIWYG.
